Coloring Interaction Panel Development

Purpose

The Coloring Interaction Panel was designed to provide children with an active, creative way to participate in the Milo Calm Lesson while reinforcing emotional learning concepts.

Rather than functioning as a separate activity, the coloring experience was designed to work alongside the instructional content within the split-screen learning environment.

Design Challenge

Many digital lessons place children in a passive role where they watch content without interacting.

The challenge was to create a meaningful activity that:

  • Supports lesson objectives
  • Encourages creativity
  • Reinforces emotional learning
  • Remains simple to use
  • Supports sensory regulation
  • Works on touch devices

Learning Goals

The coloring panel was designed to help children:

  • Engage with lesson content
  • Express creativity
  • Develop fine motor skills
  • Practice focus and attention
  • Reinforce emotional concepts
  • Participate in calming activities

Integration with the Milo Calm Lesson

The coloring panel is designed to function simultaneously with the lesson.

  • Activities support lesson goals
  • Navigation is intuitive
  • Participation is accessible
  • The activity enhances emotional learning

Outcome

The Coloring Interaction Panel expanded the Milo Calm Lesson beyond traditional instruction by combining creativity, sensory support, and emotional learning within a single interactive experience.

The feature provides opportunities for expression, engagement, and reinforcement of key learning objectives.

Next Phase
